Dr michelle torres

Dr Michelle Torres is the head of the office gynaecology service at AGORA Centre. Originally from Brazil, Dr Torres decided to settle in Australia after being recognized by the Australian Government as a Global Talent in the Healthcare Sector.

She has been involved in several scientific research projects, resulting in impactful articles published in peer-reviewed international scientific journals. She has presented her studies at international conferences and is committed to continuous learning and scientific research.

Dr Torres has more than 15 years’ experience in Women’s Health. She has worked at the Western Health Hospital, Gold Coast University Hospital, and Royal Brisbane Women's Hospital. Her qualifications include:

·      Medical degree in Brazil, recognized and validated in the USA and Australia.

·     Completed clinical training at Cornell University, Yale University, and Mayo Clinic.

·     Conducted post-doc fellowship in Gynaecology Oncology at Mayo Clinic, focusing on globally impactful research.

·     Master's degree in biomedical science and translational medicine from Mayo Clinic School of Medicine.

·     PhD from the National Cancer Institute, specializing in oncology with a focus on cervical cancer research.

·     Clinical postgraduate course in gynaecology at the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro.

Dr Torres is a member of:

  • Australian Society for Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology.

  • Australasian Menopause Society.

  • American Society for Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology.

Dr Torres is intentional about promoting health and empowering her patients to understand their bodies in a two-way relationship – talking, sharing, discussing and deciding the best course of action together. She describes her practice as grounded in evidence-based medicine with a personalized touch.
