A Prof Alex Ades is a specialist Obstetrician and Gynaecologist accredited by the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologist (RANZCOG), the Health Insurance Commission and the Medical Board of Australia.
A/Prof Ades is an extensively trained and experienced minimally invasive surgeon and has been involved in public and private practice as well as academic tertiary education for more than 20 years. His formal qualifications include a Master and a PhD in Medicine.
He has many research studies published in international peer reviewed scientific journals.
A/Prof Ades is a Clinical Associate Professor at the University of Melbourne - Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences.
He works at the Royal Women’s Hospital where he is the head of the Ambulatory Gynaecology Services unit as well as one of the endometriosis and advanced laparoscopic surgeons. He participates in the theoretical and practical training of future specialists.
A/Prof Ades is a board member of the International Society for Gynaecologic Endoscopy.
A/Prof Ades main expertise is Gynaecologic Surgery and especially Minimally Invasive Procedures. He has a special interest in the surgical treatment of conditions such as endometriosis, uterine fibroids, ovarian cysts, genital prolapse and urinary incontinence among others.
A/Prof Ades is an expert on the treatment of cervical incompetence and is one of the most experienced surgeons in Australia and internationally on Laparoscopic Transabdominal Cerclage.
A/Prof Ades admits his private patients to Frances Perry House and Epworth Richmond hospitals.
